Peaky Blinders: First trailer and image unveiled from second series
Show creator Steven Knight says new episodes sees family still based in Birmingham but expanding their empire into other areas
The first image and trailer have been unveiled for the second series of gangster drama Peaky Blinders.
BBC2 unveiled the image - showing Cillian Murphy as gang leader Tommy Shelby - and will screen the teaser clip tonight.
The Peaky Blinders cast, which includes Cillian Murphy, Helen McCrory, Sam Neill, Paul Anderson, Sophie Rundle and Joe Cole, will be joined by Tom Hardy, Noah Taylor and Charlotte Riley for the second series.
It will air in the autumn and will see the family expand their empire as the 1920s begin to roar.
Creator Steven Knight said: “It’s getting bigger, it’s getting richer and as a result of that it’s getting more dangerous.
"The gang are entering areas of even greater jeopardy.
"And anyone like Tommy who is so good at what he does will attract dangerous people and he has to use his skills and his wits to survive.
"They don’t leave Birmingham, they stay centred there, but they expand the business into other areas."
Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy added: “We reached a point in Series 1 where the Peaky Blinders’ empire expanded beyond where the family was when Tommy became the de facto leader.
"Now the next target is London, moving south and encountering more obstacles, trying to go legitimate but constantly being pulled back down in that criminal world, and that pull-and-push is the really exciting dramatic element of it."
